Dobbo recently coached the Stormers to victory in the United Rugby Championship in Cape Town, Bax heads up the award-winning Rare Grill restaurant in Kenilworth, and Lowe is the Karoo Art’s kitchen king. Talk about a champion lineup.
To celebrate the first Springbok test match on Saturday 2 July, the Karoo Art Hotel has planned three rugby-inspired events to tuck into – adding to the long list of reasons to visit this celebrated spot.
The weekend lineup:
The weekend will kick off on Friday 1 July with an Art of Steak masterclass hosted by Dobbo and Chef Greg Bax. After a fabulous night’s sleep in one of the gorgeous rooms, it’ll be time to get your potjie on.
Saturday morning will start with an Art of Springbok Potjie masterclass led by Chef Derek Lowe. It’ll be all about the venison (springbok, of course) supplied by Wayne Oostingh of Leopard Rock game ranch.
What to do whilst your potjie bubbles away? Indulge in a Barrydale tasting tour that will be bracketed by the magnificent Joubert Tradouw Wine Estate. Then it’s over to Dobbo in the Karoo Art’s historic ballroom for the pre-test buildup, the game and the afterparty.
