A popular summer highlight, the Stellenbosch Street Soirees, came back with a bang on 9 November 2022. The soirees will take place on most Wednesday evenings until March 2023.
The event is a series of laid-back evenings beneath famous oaks where guests can sample delicious food and wine tastings and enjoy the best our country has to offer: warm weather, culture and treats.
The evenings are the perfect time for friends and family to join celebrated wineries and catch up while savouring the essence of South African wine along with smooth and contemporary music.
This is an elegant setting in which to taste wine and socialise outdoors during one of the most beautiful times of the year. Street food from local vendors, including renowned chef Bertus Basson’s De Vrije Burger, will be on offer.
Between 15 and 25 wineries will participate per event, with the activities running from 6pm to 8pm.
The dates:
- 9 November
- 23 November
- 7 December
- 18 January
- 1 February
- 15 February
- 1 March
- 15 March
“The Stellenbosch Street Soirees have really taken on a life of their own since launching in 2011,” says Stellenbosch Wine Routes manager Elmarie Rabe.
“Nonetheless, they continue to gain momentum. It’s always a treat to catch the happy surprise on the faces of visitors who unexpectedly happen on the festivities in the closed-off Drostdy Road.”
“It’s a lot of fun and we always encourage people to stick around afterwards for dinner at one of the stunning restaurants within walking distance, or even continue the party at one of Stellenbosch’s many wine bars,” says Rabe.
