Staff at People’s Post have done it again, this time receiving a win and several nominations at the 2022 Media24 News Excellence Awards.

Held at Nasdak in the Cape Town Central Business District (CBD) on Wednesday 7 September, the awards honour work published and produced by Media24 publications.

With Covid-19 having put a halt to the competition for the past two years, this year honoured work published or broadcast on Media24 platforms between 2020 and 2022.

In the category, Sales Person of the Year, sales representative Michael Roberts won top spot in the country for community titles.

People’s Post Mitchell’s Plain and Athlone | Lansdowne reporter Samantha Lee-Jacobs also received three nominations.

Lee-Jacobs finished as a finalist in the Best Visuals: Local Media category for photography published in community newspapers with Carina Roux of Tygerburger, sister publication for the People’s Post, winning the category.

Competing against journalists at top wire and daily publications in the country, Lee-Jacobs was also a finalist in the Best Scoop and Best Specialist Reporting: Sport categories.
